19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He saved four early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
