Sam Fender has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the trust for venues, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots music venues.

He was presented with the award on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

The musician has chosen to hand the money over to the MVT, in recognition of the vital role small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These locations are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its attempts to support the industry, by applying a modest fee to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

He also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help numerous grassroots venues across Britain.

The money supported locations that were confronting imminent closure due to difficulties caused by water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and noise complaints.

Additional spaces obtained monetary aid in modernizing amenities and gear that helped musicians and audiences.

"The concept that revenue from shows in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it begins for musicians like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has stated.

Two years ago, they contributed their winnings to the youth organization that supported their act, alongside other independent music bodies.

Additionally the 1994 recipients they donated their prize to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated vocalist Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the extra, because we had the cake. So our success impacted the lives of others."

Last week, the trust announced it had protected two grassroots venues in that region, by placing them under community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in that location were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by a national body and music fans who acquire "shares" in the buildings.
